  • Professional Development - Safer, Smarter Schools Professional Development for Beginning Teachers & School Administrators – These 15-hour online, interactive, self-paced courses developed by Lauren’s Kids and the University of Florida are free for Florida public school educators. With focus on preventing, identifying, and reporting abuse, and how to create a safe school and classroom climate, educators who complete these module-based courses will receive a Certificate of Completion that can become a part of your district’s professional development requirements. • Blueprint for Building Safer, Smarter Families Activity Pack Logo “Blueprint for Building Safer, Smarter Families” Activity Pack – Available in English and Spanish – A comprehensive activity pack parents can use to teach children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 the basics of personal safety, as well as the strategies needed to prevent abuse, all from a place of fun, not fear. Adults receive their own “parent pack” to use with their child, while kids follow along in their own workbook complete with crossword puzzles, word searches, crafts, roleplay scenarios, games and other entertaining activities. The activities and lessons are grounded in concepts taught in the Safer, Smarter Kids curriculum. *This resource is recommended for Title I parent engagement. • Guide to Hope & Healing logo Guide to Hope & Healing – A one-of-a-kind resource developed by Lauren’s Kids and the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, with input from focus groups with parents and therapists in conjunction with the Florida Network of Child Advocacy Centers. The Guide is designed to provide essential information and answer questions that often arise after a child’s disclosure of sexual abuse. In addition to a manual with resources, references, tips and forms, the Guide to Hope & Healing contains activities for child and teen survivors to help facilitate healing and communication, and safety planning and communication activities for families.
