From Victim to Survivor and Thriver

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” – Maya Angelou, survivor

The journey from victim to survivor is often three steps forward and two steps back, but with support and the help of a trauma counselor, children’s advocacy center, or sexual assault treatment center, you can not only survive – but thrive. Lauren’s Kids works to support survivors in their healing journeys by providing guidance, support, and resources.

Guide to Hope & Healing

A one-of-a-kind resource developed by Lauren’s Kids and the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, with input from focus groups with parents and therapists in conjunction with the Florida Network of Child Advocacy Centers. The Guide is designed to provide essential information and answer questions that often arise after a child’s disclosure of sexual abuse. In addition to a manual with resources, references, tips and forms, the Guide to Hope & Healing contains activities for child and teen survivors to help facilitate healing and communication, and safety planning and communication activities for families.

Lauren’s Kingdom

“If you’re choking back tears and your heart’s filled with fears…You know very well, it’s OK to tell.”

That’s the message taught to children in Lauren’s Kingdom, Lauren’s first book for children. Set in the fanciful backdrop of a young girl’s imagination, the Publisher’s Weekly Best-Selling Children’s Book empowers caregivers to discuss the important, but often danced around topic of personal safety with their children grades K-2.
