Safer, Smarter Kids/Safer, Smarter Teens Overview: 1 Hour
Each grade level – Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, Middle School, and High School – will be highlighted, providing educators with an awareness of the topics and components of the curriculum.
Participants will be provided with a training packet. This training is appropriate for district administrators, school-based administrators, social workers, school counselors, PTA, School Advisory Committee.
Safer, Smarter Kids/Safer, Smarter Teens Intensive Grade Level Training: 6 Hours
This intensive training is grade level specific: Kindergarten · 1st Grade · 2nd Grade · 3rd Grade · 4th Grade · 5th Grade · Middle School · High School
Participants will be provided with a grade level Safer, Smarter Kids or Safer, Smarter, Teens kit. Each lesson will be taught fully, following the steps in the Teacher’s Guide, providing educators an opportunity at each grade level. Educators will be prepared through trainer-facilitated group discussion highlighted by teacher tips for effective implementation of the curriculum in their classrooms.
This training is appropriate for grade level educators or resource teachers who plan to provide the primary instruction of the curriculum at a specific grade level.
Safer, Smarter Kids/Safer Smarter Teens Grade Level Training: 3 Hours
This training is grade level specific: Kindergarten · 1st Grade · 2nd Grade · 3rd Grade · 4th Grade · 5th Grade · Middle School · High School
Participants will be provided with a grade level Safer, Smarter Kids or Safer, Smarter Teens kit. Each lesson’s topics and components will be introduced by highlighting the steps in the Teacher’s Guide, providing educators an opportunity to interact with the components of each grade level.
This training is appropriate for grade level educators or resource teachers who plan to provide the primary instruction of the curriculum at a specific grade level.
Safer, Smarter Kids/Safer, Smarter Teens Overview: 1 Hour
This training is grade level specific: Kindergarten · 1st Grade · 2nd Grade · 3rd Grade · 4th Grade · 5th Grade · Middle School · High School
Participants will be provided with a training packet. Each lesson will be introduced providing educators with an awareness of the topic and lesson components. This training is appropriate to build awareness of the topics in a grade level prior to the 3-hour or 6-hour grade level training.
Safer, Smarter Kids Kindergarten-5th Grade Overview: 3 Hours
Following the steps in the Teachers’ Guide, one lesson in each grade level will be highlighted providing educators with an awareness of the topic and lesson components. Participants will be provided with a training packet.
This training is appropriate for social workers, school counselors, district level administrators, and school-based administrators.
Safer, Smarter Kids/Safer Smarter Teens Grade Level “Train The Trainer” Training: 8 Hours
This training is grade level specific with the purpose of developing grade level trainers: Kindergarten · 1st Grade · 2nd Grade · 3rd Grade · 4th Grade · 5th Grade · Middle School · High School
Each lesson at each grade level will be taught completely, following all steps of implementation in the Teacher’s Guide, and will provide the trainers with the background needed to adequately train educators to implement the program in their classrooms. Participants will be provided with a grade level kit and a Train the Trainer training packet.
This training is appropriate for education professionals who have previously or currently taught the curriculum, who display a commitment and passion for empowering students to become safer and smarter, and who demonstrate excellent presentation skills.
The following trainings may be added to any of the previous training opportunities to enhance the safety concepts learned in the classroom and extend those concepts into a student’s home.
Safer, Smarter Schools Resources Overview: 2 Hours
An overview of Lauren’s Kids (safersmarterschools.org) resources:

This training is appropriate for Trainers, district level administrators, and school-based administrators.
Family Safety Plan Training: 1 Hour
An in-depth overview for use of the Family Safety Plan (safersmarterfamilies.org), a safety plan generator for families, that extends the safety concepts into the home. Participants will be provided with a training packet.
This training is appropriate for PTA meetings, School Advisory Council meetings, or Title 1 Parent Involvement Workshops.

Building Safety in the Digital World
The Family Activity Packs provide families with an introduction and hands on activities that extends of the safety concepts taught in the Kindergarten-5th Grade Safer, Smarter Kids Abuse Prevention Curriculum. The unique design of the instruction in the packs make them appropriate for use by parents whether or not their children have participated in the curriculum in their school. Participants will be provided with a Family Activity Pack kit.
This training is appropriate for PTA meetings or SAC meetings, or Title 1 Parent Involvement Workshops.
A Guide to Hope and Healing: 1 Hour
An overview of the essential information and questions that often arise after a child’s disclosure of abuse. A Guide to Hope and Healing includes information about recognizing and responding to abuse, creating a family safety plan, use of affirmation cards, age appropriate healing activities, and a trusted adult companion journal. This training will review recognizing sexual abuse, reporting abuse, developing a family safety plan, how to respond to disclosure of abuse, creating a new normal following abuse, and a review of the healing activities. Participants will be provided a copy of A Guide to Hope and Healing.
This training is appropriate for educators, administrators, social workers, school psychologists, counselors, and parents.
