I want to participate, but I can’t make it to the Capitol – how can I get involved?

You can still get involved in 42 Hours, even if you can’t come to the Florida Capitol this April. Here are some ways to show your support and participate:

  • Add our 42 Hours frame to your Facebook profile picture
  • Become a virtual walker and pledge to donate a dollar amount for every hour we’re walking
  • Check out our livestream, which will be broadcasting live from within the Capitol from from February 4 – February 6.

I can’t afford the $20 registration fee, but I want to walk. What can I do?

Email [email protected], and we’ll gladly accommodate your scholarship needs – no worries!

Who can sign up to walk?

Anyone who is able to walk for 15 minutes at their own pace on a standing, stationary treadmill. You will adjust the speed based on your preference. Please note – you will be required to sign a safety and media waiver on-site before participating and must arrive on site 15 minutes before your scheduled walking shift to meet with the Lauren’s Kids team, sign your waivers, and get set to walk. Under 18? See below.

Can I walk for more than one 15-minute time slot?

Yes – you can register to walk for up to 4 consecutive 15-minute time slots (or, 1 hour). After that, you’ll need to take a break for at least an hour, then you can walk again.

Do I have to register in advance to walk?

Walkers are advised to register in advance, however Lauren’s Kids has built in “open walk” times from 12 – 1 p.m. and from 6-7 p.m. each day. To participate in these open walk times, simply show up with your walking shoes on! Note: due to volume of participants, open walk participants may be limited to 15 minute time or less.

What if I sign up to walk and have to cancel or change my time?

Not a problem. For all changes and cancellations up to February 1, please email [email protected]. For same-day schedule changes, please text Claire at 352-281-9056.

Do you need volunteers?
