Founder and CEO of Lauren’s Kids, Lauren Book, published today an op-ed in the Tallahassee Democrat in response to two area teachers’ arrest for failure to disclose child abuse of a 12-year-old student.
Said Book, “It’s important to recognize that the barriers to a child’s disclosure are many: shame, guilt, fear of not being believed – the list goes on. When a victim finds his or her voice, adults must also find the parallel courage to help that child — especially classroom educators, who are entrusted with our children each and every day, and who sometimes spend more time with a child than his or her family does…”
