Child Sexual Abuse Prevention in Miami

In 2007, armed with the knowledge that 95% of child sexual abuse is preventable with proper education, we began our mission to stop this abuse. Many child sexual abuse prevention programs focus on educating one specific group of people. Here at Lauren’s Kids, we believe that prevention is possible by educating everyone, regardless of age. We offer a wide variety of child sexual abuse prevention programs in Miami that are designed with specific needs and age groups in mind.

The first step to putting a stop to child sexual abuse in Miami is to educate the community and raise awareness. As a community, it is our job to protect our children. We offer several child sexual abuse prevention programs in Miami that target adults, children, educators and community members alike. These programs include:

  • Safer, Smarter Kids is an abuse prevention curriculum program that is designed to help Pre-Kindergarten and elementary school students learn safety awareness, self-esteem development, and body boundaries. This program helps children respect for themselves as well as others and teaches them to listen to their guiding voice. Developed with career educators, child advocates and developmental psychologists, this prevention program also emphasizes that in instances of abuse, it is ok to tell trusted adults, and it also stresses the importance of accessing help. The middle and high school installments of the curricula, called Safer, Smarter Teens, will be released in the 2015-2016 school year. Visit Safer, Smarter Kids to learn more.
  • Youth Serving Organizations exist to help children become more confident and well rounded. We offer programs designed to help adults who regularly come into contact with children and teens recognize the signs of child sexual abuse and best practices for abuse prevention within youth-serving organizations. These child abuse prevention programs in Miami also teach adults how to react and respond appropriately in an instance of child sexual abuse, and how to report it as mandated by Florida law. If you are a teacher, coach or mentor to children, these abuse prevention programs can help you better protect the children that are regularly entrusted to you. Learn more at DontMisstheSigns.org.
  • Developmental Disabilities put children at an even larger risk for sexual abuse; in fact, more than 90 percent of people with developmental disabilities will be sexually abused at some point in their lives. Lauren’s Kids offers education programs to arm children with special-needs and their caregivers with protective principles to prevent abuse. If you live or work with children who have special needs, this abuse prevention program is vital. If you would like to learn more, please visit Safer, Smarter Kids.
