This weekend, Lauren’s Kids earned its 5th Suncoast Regional Emmy Award for its Safer, Smarter Kids: Second Grade – Safety Superheroes curriculum. The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences offers annual Regional EMMY® Awards for media markets in the southeast region of the United States.
“Thank you to the Emmy Awards for recognizing our curriculum and amplifying our message to protect children,” said Senator Lauren Book, founder and CEO of Lauren’s Kids. “Students who receive child sexual abuse prevention lessons in the classroom are 3.5 times more likely to report their abuse, compared to those students who have not received training. This is why Safer, Smarter Kids was created – so that every parent, caregiver, teacher, and student is armed with the tools they need to stop abuse in its tracks.”
Lauren’s Kids CEO, Lauren Book, M.S. Ed., career educators, abuse prevention experts, and developmental psychologists created the Safer, Smarter Kids curriculum to not only educate children, but also teachers and parents. The goal being: Engaging Teachers, Empowering Children, Educating Parents. The curriculum teaches children from a place of fun, not fear and focuses on teaching children that they have the ability to protect themselves by telling trusted adults if they are ever made to feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or not quite right.
