Child Sexual Abuse Prevention in Tallahassee

Child sexual abuse can be a difficult subject to talk about, but did you know that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will be a victim of sexual abuse before the age of 18? Unfortunately, child abuse is all too common and can occur at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions and at all levels of education. While the stats are staggering, the solution is clear: 95 percent of child sexual abuse is preventable through education and awareness. Here at Lauren’s Kids, we are dedicated to raising awareness by educating people about child sexual abuse prevention in Tallahassee. As a community, we are responsible for the safety of our children, and by spreading awareness and offering educational programs to people of all ages, we can do our part to help prevent child sexual abuse.

Our organization is dedicated to making Tallahassee, and communities across the Sunshine State, a safer place for children and families. We advocate for State Laws that protect children and help victims of child sexual abuse heal and thrive. We have helped to eliminate the statute of limitations for crimes committed against children under the age of 16, increase penalties for those who sexually assault individuals with developmental delays or disabilities, increase penalties for cyber sex crimes, and helped pass the Lauren Book Protection Act, which makes it a felony for offenders to contact their victims or their families after they have been convicted.

We encourage you to join our fight to raise child sexual abuse awareness by joining our 1,500 mile Walk in My Shoes event, where we walk across the state of Florida. The Walk in My Shoes event brings together people from all walks of life. Survivors of child sexual abuse walk to share their stories and inspire others to find strength in themselves, individuals seeking to improve legislation protecting children from predators walk to spread awareness, while others walk in support of their friends and family members. The Walk in My Shoes event helps to shine a light in dark places, and perfectly embodies the sense of unity and support that Lauren’s Kids is dedicated to promoting.
